Depression can be described as feeling sad, miserable or down in the dumps. Most people feel that way at one point in their lives for short periods of time. However, true clinical depression is a mood disorder where feelings of sadness, loss, anger or frustration interfere with everyday life for weeks or longer.

Depression Screening 
Depression Screening is a  Depression Screening/Self Assessment through Mental Health America.  Mental Health America (formerly known as the National Mental Health Association) is the country’s leading nonprofit dedicated to helping ALL people live mentally healthier lives.

National Institute of Mental Health 
National Institute of Mental Health links to a detailed booklet that describes Depression symptoms, causes, and treatments, with information on getting help and coping.

American Association of Suicidology 
American Association of Suicidology lists local crisis centers and resources for the assessment, prediction and prevention of suicide. It also includes resources and support groups for the survivors of suicide.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention 
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has been at the forefront of a wide range of suicide prevention initiatives, each designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. We are investing in groundbreaking research, new educational campaigns, innovative demonstration projects and critical policy work. And we are expanding our assistance to people whose lives have been affected by suicide, reaching out to offer support and offering opportunities to become involved in prevention.
